Founders

Please write a small intro line for FOUNDERS:

Fearghas McKay
C.E.O.

This is Fearghas's Biography. He was born in a country where my pa' was also born and raised. I don't know much about him other than the fact that he served in the British Navy and was a torpedoman on a battleship. He got a bunch of medals which were passed down to me. There's a 39-45 Star, a Burma Star, a Defence medal and War Medal 39-45. I wonder if everyone got those.. kind of like a participation award. Congrats, you didn't die! Alas, no Purple Heart. I think only Jesus got one of those.

Hugh Daniel
Chief Technical Director

Not much publically known.

Michael C. Richardson
VP Research & Development

Michael Richardson has worked on system software and network stacks for over ten years: SunOS, BSDi, NetBSD and Linux. He spent a number of years building firewalls, then virtual private networks (VPNs) to connect them, then silicon to implement VPNs. Returning in summer 2001 from the depths of such specialization, Michael has been a member of the Linux FreeSWAN team ever since.

Paul Wouters
VP Operations

Paul Wouters has been involved with Linux networking and security since he co-founded the Dutch ISP "Xtended Internet" back in 1996. His first article about network security was published in LinuxJournal in 1997. Since then, he has written mostly for the Dutch spin-off of the German "c't magazine", focussing on Linux, networking and the impact of the digital world on society. He has presented papers at SANS, OSA, CCC and HAL.

He is currently involved with the FreeS/WAN project, a Linux IPsec stack that aims to bring Opportunistic Encryption to everyone. For this feature, a secure DNS is needed, which triggered his interest in assisting the widespread use of DNSSEC.

Ken Bantoft
VP Business Development

Ken Bantoft starting programming in 1988, and successfully avoided doing it as a full time job until 2002. He opted instead to focus on Unix, Networking, and Linux. He now spends his days doing systems integration and writing software for Canadian Biotech company MDS Proteomics. Beginning at OLS2002, he starting working alongside the FreeS/WAN project, integrating various patches into his own fork of their code - Super FreeS/WAN. He now works directly on the project, as well as several other Open Source efforts including OpenZaurus/OpenEmbedded.

Ken's previous jobs included Team Leader of Linux Services at IBM Canada, and as a Network Engineer for CIBC.

One Unix to rule them all, One Resolver to find them, One IP to bring them all, and in the zone, bind them.
